My Approach

My approach to counseling is integrated and draws from attachment theory, cognitive behavioral therapy, trauma-informed and client-centered principles to inform a holistic and therapeutic process for the unique needs of each client. I understand that early experiences and relationships impact an individual’s emotional development influencing current relationships and that trauma can have a pervasive impact in an  individual’s life. As a trauma- informed therapist, I prioritize safety for clients understanding the risks for traumatization. I seek to provide a therapeutic environment that emphasizes empathy, and unconditional positive regard, to truly be present with clients. Counseling is a collaborative relationship that invites the client to set goals for therapy, to explore and implement their own solutions and insights in their mental health journey. I seek to empower the client using evidenced based treatment to help them rebuild control and resilience in their lives. My experience and training also have equipped me with skills in faith-based counseling through the integration of Christian theology, as a client requests and it serves a therapeutic purpose. It is a privilege and honor to walk alongside a client in their journey toward greater health and wholeness.
